Jeff Spanke

Biographical Note

Jeff Spanke is a doctoral candidate in English Education at Purdue University. His research interests include narrative ethnographical studies of alternative schooling, composition instruction, service learning, and pre-service teacher preparation. He is a former high school English teacher who currently teaches introductory composition courses at Purdue and serves as a research assistant for Purdue’s Gifted Education Resource Institute. He and his wife live in West Lafayette, Indiana with their three year-old son.

Biographical Note

Michael Angelotti is a well-published working writer and abstract painter currently focused on connecting internal visual imaging and spontaneous writing as beginning places to personal growth in both abstract painting and literary writing. To this end, he also teaches English Education as an emeritus professor at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, most notably teaching Creative Composition- a summer course featuring an image to word process dubbed “paint-write.”

Biographical Note

William E. Krape is a graduate of Shorter College in Rome, Georgia, and holds a Master’s degree in music from the University of Alabama. There he was a student of Warren Hutton. He was awarded a Marshall Scholarship for one year’s study in Denmark with Dr. Finn Viderø. He is beginning his thirty-second year as Organist-Choirmaster at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Atlanta.

The First Art Adventure: ‘I can really draw Mommy!’

Kaleigh Mya Lee (with Michelle Kwan Lee)

Biographical Information

Kaleigh Mya Lee  just turned five and she is a part-time junior kindergartener.  Her aspirations include being an inventor, a scientist, a veterinarian and a medical doctor.  This is her very first formal learning in an art school.

Michelle Kwan Lee, Ph.D. was born and raised in Hong Kong. She currently lives in the Silicon Valley as a full time homemaker. Her doctoral project titled ‘The Learning of English Vocabulary by Local Students and Chinese Immigrant Children: A Critical and Sociocultural Analysis’ was awarded the best dissertation in 2002 in the doctoral category for all Hong Kong universities. Before moving to California, she worked as a senior research assistant, a university language teacher, a teacher educator, and a publishing manager.
