Submissions to all strands to Ubiquity are managed through Open Journal System (OJS). This portal will permit the editorial team to keep the submission and review process as efficient as possible. This user-friendly, online submission and review system also allows authors to track the progress of submissions under review with Ubiquity. Before a submission can be processed, authors must also register with OJS. To register, click here.

GENERAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND REVIEW POLICY
Manuscript Preparation
The manuscript preparation (including the format of headings, tables, figures, illustrations/images, citations) and references (including visual, audio, and other material) should follow the guidelines described in the latest edition of the publication manual of the American Psychological Association (APA 7th edition), unless indicated otherwise in the Author’s Guidelines for each strand. Authors should submit manuscripts in English that are of high quality in use of grammar and style. Authors should employ copy editing services if they need assistance with grammar and style. Manuscripts should use a font size of 12 and not exceed guidelines for length given in specific strands.
Blind Review
Please refrain from including any personally identifiable information in your submissions (articles or other forms of work) so that our reviewers will not be able to recognize the identity of any of the authors.
To learn how to ensure that your submission is free from personally identifiable material, consult tutorial video 4 for making submissions or read this PDF.
Title Page
A title page should be included with all submissions including the following information: a) a title (no more than 12 words), b) an abstract (between 50-150 words) and c) key words (5-8 words or phrases). To ensure a blind review process, no author or institution information should be provided on the title page, in the file name, or anywhere within the material and in references. Non-responsiveness to these requirements will result in rejection of the submission with no further processing.
Cover Letter
IMPORTANT: The cover letter should be submitted as a separate file through Open Journal System (OJS).
View Ubiquity Submission Tutorials 4 and 5 for information about ensuring a blind review and submitting files into OJS.
All authors should provide a separate cover letter (a letter to the Strand Editor), including: the contact information (the name, mailing address, phone, email address, fax, and affiliation) for each author; an indication of the first and corresponding author; special circumstances disclosures; and confirmation that the work submitted has not been published previously in any form, in print and online, or submitted simultaneously to other journal(s) for publication.
Authors should identify grants, other financial support, or special circumstances in the Cover Letter and in Acknowledgements within the manuscript or in the credits page for creative works.
In addition, the cover letter submission should include a short biography (not more than 70 words) for each author.
To help us fulfill our goal of fostering conversations in literature, language, and the arts, we ask that authors engage with articles previously published in Ubiquity whenever possible.
Audio Visual Material and Media Preparation
The following are the acceptable formats for visual, audio, and video material:
- Photographs, Images, or Figures: as JPEG high quality files at a 72+ dpi setting (300 recommended) with a minimum 700 x 400 pixel display
- Audio as .wav or .mp3 files
- Video files should be saved as H.264 files with an MP4 suffix. The size of the file must not exceed 500MB. The resolution should be 1280 x 720. The format must not exceed 720p. We recommend a 16:9 aspect ratio. The length of the file must not exceed 5 minutes. You can find a free conversion service online such as MPEG Streamclip if you do not have conversion software of your own. The journal reserves the right to edit the video file size, if needed, in preparation for publication.
Important: Authors submitting to Ubiquity audio visual material and media should also submit the information requested for the Title Page and the Cover Page (for details, please see the instructions above).
